When It Comes To Sports – I’m Blacked Out

Can someone explain to me why it seems almost every professional sports team has either changed their colors, added to their colors or adopted the dreaded alternate uniform, in BLACK!

It is a trend that quite frankly has irritated me for quite some time now. I know I shouldn’t be that concerned with such trivial matters as the color scheme of a few pro sports teams, especially in light of all the financial and political chaos in this country, but I am. Sports are about tradition and tradition has always been about building something meaningful and being proud of what you are and where you come from.

I did not reach my level of concern without first trying to understand and adapt to the current trend in pro sports apparel. I considered that black may be slimming and, that alone would be a legitimate reason to adopt the color. However this method of reasoning soon left my mind when I gazed upon Warren Sapp looking just as fat in Raider silver and

I know my disgust will not be enough to cause a sufficient ground swell of emotions to overturn this trend in sports

Jack Edward’s of NESN (video credit NESN.com) interviews Tim Thomas, Marc Savard, and Zdeno Chara about being named to the 2009 All-Star Game.

History Of NHL Jerseys

An interesting way to trace the history of the NHL is to explore the many different NHL jerseys that have evolved over the years. Today, official NHL merchandise holds its own in the sports apparel market, offering numerous colorful selections to choose from. A growing trend in the official NHL merchandise market includes the purchase of vintage NHL jerseys. This allows you to further admire the changes that this intense sport has undergone.

Amateur hockey teams flourished before 1904 until the first professional NHL league was born. Although quite popular throughout the rest of the world, especially Canada, it was the United States that first brought the sport to the professional level. Tucked away in the mining region of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, the start of the International Pro Hockey League blossomed. Three years later, it was no more. In its place, the National Hockey Association (NHA) was established.

In 1910, there were four

A Boston Vacation is More than a Tea Party

A Boston Vacation is More than a Tea Party

Expanding past the shoreline of the Massachusetts Bay, Boston extends for miles inland. Boston was the largest city in America up until 1755. Unlike other early American cities, Boston suffered the most during the British clamp down on the colonies. This long historic past provides visitors with many small, site- specific museums and historical areas.

The North End of Boston includes the North Church and Paul Revere’s home. A visit here will give the visitor an appreciation for the character of our Nation’s heroes.

Walking tours of the historic areas are a wonderful way to experience history first hand. Guided tours of the Freedom Trail immerse Boston visitors in the daily life of the early settlers. The Freedom Trail winds its way around sixteen of Boston’s most famous historical sites.

Across the street from the Boston Commons is the Public Garden. Visitors are greeted by gorgeous landscaping and the famous statue of George

Nhl Power Rankings

Power Rankings for this week.  A special thanks to, BlueJacketsHockey

1. San Jose Sharks (26-4-3) 55 points
Yes, I know they lost twice this week and once to the Blue Jackets, but as of now I still think, by a slight edge they are the best in the NHL right now.
2. Detroit Red Wings (22-6-4) 48 points
Yea, they were one of the teams that beat the sharks last week and I know I’ll have some angry Bruins fans, but they beat the best team in the NHL, they gotta be here.
3. Boston Bruins (24-5-4) 52 points
Don’t get me wrong Bruins, I think you are a great team and that you will someday be 1 or 2, but the Wings beat the Sharks last week and I don’t think it’s fair to make the Sharks move from 1 to 3 when right now, they are still the best team in the leauge, but I think that the Bruins may be number 1 in a few weeks to come.
4. Chicago Blackhawks (18-6-7) 43 points
Can you say on fire? I’m not sure the Blackhawks can’t

Oilers Win Lottery for 1st Pick in NHL Draft

Boston, the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, will pick second in the June 25-26 draft after acquiring Toronto’s first-round pick in an offseason trade that sent Phil Kessel to the Maple Leafs.

The Oilers (27-47-8) came into the annual lottery Tuesday with a 25 percent chance of securing the top pick and will select first for the first time.

Florida will select third, followed by Columbus and the New York Islanders — who picked first in 2009. Tampa Bay, Carolina, Atlanta, Minnesota and the New York Rangers round out the top 10.

Barring a trade, the Oilers will become the first Canadian team to select first since 1996, when Ottawa chose defenseman Chris Phillips.

”It’s such an important step for us to have the ability to take the first overall pick, especially where we are with our cycle of development,” Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said. ”We’re more into a reshaping, a rebuilding mode right now. Everybody’s clear

Diet Plan Kidney Stones Elimination

Calcium concocted with either oxalate or phosphate is the most common type of chemical combination of these bandits. They are separated from the urine within the urinary tract. They are a bit less common like cystine stones which are found rarely.

Diet Plan Kidney Stones no mojo here at all.

Tracing the ‘evil BAND-it genius’

In cystinuria, too much of the amino acid cystine, which does not dissolve in urine, is voided, leading to the formation of stones made of cystine. Hypercalciuria is inherited; it may be the cause of stones in more than half of patients.

Medium-oxalate foods include grits, grapes, celery, green pepper, red raspberries, fruit cake, strawberries, marmalade and liver. There are other causes of kidney stones. As said earlier if the stones are small, they will often pass out of the body unnoticed.

Seems they have called other allies, aye? Cystinuria and hyperoxaluria are two other rare,

The Thrashers look for a fifth consecutive victory Thursday night as they host the struggling Bruins, who are hoping to have Milan Lucic and or Marc Savard back on the ice. This season, the Bruins have failed to score more than one goal in nine games. They also rank last in the power play, converting just

Politically Incorrect or Racist?

Politically Incorrect or Racist?

In case you don’t know, I love sports.

I’ve been a “jock” since I was given my first baseball glove at the age of six.

Baseball, football, hockey, wrestling, gymnastics and martial arts – you name it I’ve played it. I also enjoy watching it and following “my teams”.

For the record, my teams are; The Boston Red Sox, The Boston Celtics, The Boston Bruins and The Oakland Raiders (gotcha!).

I also like The Florida Gators.

But this article isn’t really about sports, per se.

I’m writing this because, in all honesty, I’m not sure how I feel about a semi-related issue.

Let me ask you a question;

Would you support a team called The San Antonio Spics?

How about the Baltimore Blackies or the Detroit Honkies?

Maybe the New Jersey Jews or the Washington Wops?

I think it’s a fair assumption to say that most rational people would find these mascot names offensive, or, at the very least,
