Back in the Playoff Hunt!

Rangers dominate in Boston!

After a night of rest Henrik Lundqvist responds with a stellar performance in goal stopping 29 of 30 Boston shots as the Rangers added two more points in the standings. Now holding down sole possession of 6th place in the Eastern Conference with 50 points, they are only a point behind the Bruins who now have lost two straight.

Michael Del Zotto would put the Rangers on the board first in the first period of play with a beautiful back hand driving to the net after making a move around S. Chara. Dubinsky and Girardi were the set up men on the play.

Period one was when Lundqvist would be tested and he was there for all eleven of the Bruins shots, sharp and in position the man was on his game. Especially when asked to stop a penalty shot when Marco Sturm was tripped up on a breakaway on a short handed attempt. Even though it looked like Marco took a dive on the replay, from the refs view he saw a take down. No

Boston-on- A-budget

Boston, appropriately for a town that’s home to Harvard, one of the world’s best known universities, is a haven for student travelers and backpackers. With its great bars, parks and a range of free things to do, a trip to the city need not wreck your budget. And, whilst Boston hostels may not be particularly numerous, there’s more than enough excellent budget accommodation to go around.

Budget Boston

Boston is many things: an intellectual haven, a melting pot of diverse cultures and lifestyles, an historical landmark, and a highly influential American city. And, whilst it’s true that Boston is one of the wealthiest cities in the US, it also offers a surprising number of inexpensive restaurants and bars, hostels, and attractions.

Taking in all Boston has to offer doesn’t have to be a wallet-breaking incident. My Boston hostel, the HI – Fenway, was on Commonwealth Ave., was at the center of the

Tips of Collecting Ticket and Stubs

Collecting tickets is an exciting and rewarding area of collecting. Collectors research tickets to enhance the value. Tickets are issued for sports events, movies, music concerts, dances, museums and in cities and countries throughout the world.

Tickets help promoters keep track of attendance, receipts and to comply with tax and safety laws. Tickets come in different shapes, sizes and colors; from detailed beautiful artist drawings to plain computer generated tickets. Many tickets have photos of athletes, stadiums, team logos, date, game number, city, seat location and title of event. All of these factors contribute to the value of a ticket. Many stadiums like the Fleet Center in Boston are scanning tickets to Bruins and Celtics games return the full ticket to the fans for safe keeping.

Concert ticket stubs are wonderful collectibles. Like show flyers, handbills, posters, programs and other rock memorabilia, old tickets are colorful, fun and

2008-09 Nhl Playoffs Slated to be as Exciting as Ever

Since as far back as 1893, professional hockey teams have been competing for the prestigious NHL Stanley Cup trophy, awarded to the winner of the NHL playoffs. The cup itself, is the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, partly due to the fact that unlike other professional leagues, the NHL does not create a new trophy year after year, but instead hands the same one down. For this reason, the cup has been extended in size on many occasions, to make room for the engraved names of many new Stanley Cup Champion players and teams. Some of the NHL’s most well known legends, including Mario Lemieux, Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard and Wayne Gretzkey, all have their names engraved on the cup; some more than once.

Over the years, as the Stanley Cup grew into a massive and over 100 year-old trophy, it became not only the pride of the NHL, but also a symbol for the rich history and culture of hockey in North America in general. Every

2008-09 Nhl Season Off to an Exciting Start

2009 marks the 91st anniversary of the NHL as a league and the centennial anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens as a franchise. To celebrate this once in a lifetime occasion, Montreal’s Bell Centre will play host to this year’s All-Star Game in January and the 2009 Entry Draft in June.

This year’s season will also feature the second annual NHL Winter Classic, which will see two classic NHL’s teams playing hockey the way it was originally meant to be played – in the great outdoors. In this year’s Winter Classic, the Chicago Blackhawks will take on the Detroit Red Wings, in Chicago’s famous Wrigley Field, home to Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. The match-up will be not only exciting and entertaining, but historic, as these two “Original Six” teams play to remind fans what the game of hockey is all about.

In terms of standings so far this season, the San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, Boston

Nhl Stanley Cup – June’s Finalist Battle

Nhl Stanley Cup – June’s Finalist Battle

In the Eastern Conference, champions of the Atlantic, Northeast, and Southeast divisions automatically reach the playoffs, and they will be joined by the teams with the next five best records. It’s the same in the Western Conference; the five best non-division winners will advance along with the champions of the Central, Northwest, and Pacific divisions.

Home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs goes to the three division winners in each conference, seeded 1 through 3 based on best record and the No. 4 seed, the team with the next best record. No. 1 plays No. 8, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5. In the second round, the highest advancing seeded faces the lowest remaining seed, with the two middle seeds squaring off.

In all rounds leading up to the Stanley Cup finals, between the winner of the Eastern Conference and the winner of the Western Conference, the higher seed in a series always has home-ice advantage, which means that
